Unrequited

Cells, thawed deep russet
from lumbering, beat down
the jagged aspirations an impervious stone,

from the lips parted
for another sip
of the porcelain mug,
flight

unlike sleep: she always loves you,
your caffeine oriented bloodstream,
hopelessly,
with her bare legs,
her men’s shirt.
